Tae Kwon Do as a Sport
As a sport, Tae Kwon Do has rapidly taken its place in the world’s sporting arenas. It is now an official Olympic Sporting event. A great amount of skill, control and discipline is required in the art and sport of Tae Kwon Do. The control-contact philosophy of Mardo’s Tae Kwon Do Academy (MTKDA) makes it safe for everyone to enjoy.

Tae Kwon Do for Self Defense

Tae Kwon Do is considered an extremely effective form of unarmed self-defense due to the specific techniques that the system teaches. Because of this, one does not need to be a tall muscular male to successfully use Tae Kwon Do in self-defense. Many females have attained black belt level and are highly proficient in the practice.

Tae Kwon Do for Physical Fitness

Many mistakenly believe that Tae Kwon Do focuses on the breaking of boards and bricks and therefore, is not safe or healthy. The breaking of bricks and boards is but a small part of Tae Kwon Do, and it is done only to demonstrate power and focus of a specific technique. Tae Kwon Do is a comprehensive discipline that utilizes all the muscles of the body. Because of this, it is a natural weight regulator, taking pounds off where appropriate, putting them on, or redistributing them as required.
